Laurie Bishop For Congress
Laurie Bishop is a passionate advocate for healthcare rights and a staunch defender of the Indigenous people of Montana. Throughout her congressional campaign, Laurie fought to expand access to quality healthcare, especially in rural and underserved communities. She also prioritized the protection and empowerment of Montana’s Indigenous communities, advocating for their rights, lands, and cultural heritage. Laurie’s unwavering commitment to justice and equality made her a powerful voice for all Montanans, as she worked to create a more inclusive and equitable future for everyone in the state.
The color palette is deeply inspired by Montana’s landscape, Laurie’s values and interests. I chose to give these colors distinct names, each reflecting a key element to her personal story. The color Jean symbolizes strength and was named after Jeanne Manford, a feminist icon whom Bishop admires, viewing her as a hero for pioneering work as the founder of PFLAG and her advocacy for LGBTQ rights. Plum represents the state's rich natural environment, while Fuchsia adds vibrant contrast, paying homage to its native wildflowers. Used sparingly, Fuchsia dots each graphic like flowers scattered in a field, serving as an accent without overpowering the overall design. River represents clarity and Montana’s freshwater ecosystem. Finally, Mist is a nod to the state's famous and majestic mountain peaks. Together, these colors create a harmonious blend of nature and advocacy, conveying Laurie Bishop’s grounded yet bold leadership.
For the typography, I chose Bodoni Moda for the headlines to bring a sense of classic elegance and sophistication. The serif fonts lend a timeless and professional feel, which aligns with Laurie’s values and leadership style. For buttons and accents, I opted for Barlow Bold, a sans serif, to introduce contrast and add a modern touch, making the user interface more accessible and easy to navigate. Lastly, Shippori Mincho, a web safe Google font, was used for the body text to ensure readability across all platforms while maintaining the brand's refined and approachable look. This combination of serif and sans serif fonts strikes a balance between tradition and modernity.
